ABOUT HOUNSLOW RAILWAY STATION
Horsley railway station is on the NGL line between Effingham Junction and Clandon at 22m352y. It has 2 platforms which are adapted to manage 10 car trains. There are 2 main line running rails operating a mostly stopping service with interspersed fast trains. Platform 1 is 205m and platform 2 is 206m long according to the sectional appendix.

Much of the station platform area is served by high level tray work through the platform canopy and concourse area.

 

ACCESS/EGRESS
Access to platform 1 is via a walk way to the rear entrance. Access to platform 2 is via the booking hall or via the car park. A metal bridge conects platforms 1 & 2.

The nearest fibre node is located up from platform 2.

The nearest fibre joint and copper joint is just off the up end of platform 2.

NODE INTERCONNECTION OPTIONS
With both fibre and copper joints available off the up of platform 2 either cables could be routed. There has alternatively been identified a coppy joint behind platform 2 which would greatly reduce the cost of taking a possession to pull additional fibre cable.

...if interconnecting at the existing fibre joint
The joint is 192y on the up from platform 2 and there is tidy SCT (surface concrete troughing) as far as the survey would permit. The route from the end of the platform is troughing to the station building. There is also dig the complete length of the platform with pits.

...if interconnecting to the copper joint
The identified copper joint behind the platform is direct above troughing which runs to the station building. There is also dig the complete length of the platform with pits although it is not clear if there is a route from the troughing to the ducting.

Equipment room suitable for node

The existing SISS equipment is in the ticket office, there is very little room here, suggest replace smaller floor mounted rack with 2 metre rack and re-locate existing equipment.

External ducting segregated

Trunking within the subway looks to be segregated , under platform ducting needs inspecting, this was a non-intrusive survey so no cable chambers were inspected, these exist along platform 2. 

External ducting clear/roped/accessible

Unknown but all trunking is in reasonable condition, assume rodding and roping will be required for ducts under platform 2.

Power supply suitable

Within the ticket office there is a distribution board which appears to serve existing small SISS equipment racks, there are four spare ways.

Sizeable car park at station, Parking is metered and monitored agreement with TOC required for works parking.

SUMMARY
It would be advisable to run the short length of fibre cable to future proof the station from data usae in years to come.
