oxshott Railway Station

ABOUT OXSHOTT RAILWAY STATION
Oxshott railway station is on the NGL line between Claygate and Cobham & Stoke D'Abernon at 16m1738y. It has 2 platforms which are adapted to manage 10 car trains. There are 2 main line running rails operating a mostly stopping service with interspersed fast trains. Platform 1 is 202m and platform 2 is 204m long according to the sectional appendix.

Much of the station platform canopy area is served by high level trunking, however this could not be ascertained if there was any spare capacity.

The SISS cabinet is located externally adjacent to the overbridge stairs on platform 2 in a Glasdon room and access to survey this was not obtained. Previously experience tells us that the equipment in this cabinet could be rationalised to accommodate additional equipment.

The SISS on the station consists of ANDUS on both platforms.

ACCESS/EGRESS
Platform 1 is accessed via a walk way to the car park and platform 2 is only accessible via the metal overbridge.

NEAREST NODE/JUNCTION
The nearest fibre node is located down from platform 2.
Fibre Node 2106 @ 14m436y

NEAREST JOINT
The nearest copper joint is just off the down end of platform 2.
Fibre Joint F2089-2105-A-62 @ 16m1612y
Copper Joint C-2105-2106-A-01 @ 17m90y

NODE INTERCONNECTION OPTIONS
The nearest node joint is off the up of platform 2 at 126 y however there is also a copper joint at 112y down from the same platform.

...if interconnecting at the existing fibre joint
The fibre joint at 16m1612y and does not have any visible issues with SCT (surface concrete toughing) but the cabinet was not visible during this survey. The SCT connects with platform 2 and the ducting and stops at the Glasdon room where the CIS is situated.

...if interconnecting to the copper joint
The copper joint at 17m90y does not have any visible issues with SCT (surface concrete toughing) but the cabinet was not visible during this survey. The SCT connects with platform 2 and the ducting and stops at the Glasdon room where the CIS is situated. A copper cabinet was located 173y from the top of platform 2 and this may make a more viable option.

NOTES & RISKS

Equipment room suitable for node

The existing SISS equipment is in the ticket office, there is very little room here, suggest replace smaller floor mounted rack with 2 metre rack and re-locate existing equipment.

Internal/external housing required

Internal

Station trunking suitable

Some supplementary work required to interconnect to routes toward the node.

External ducting segregated

Trunking within the subway looks to be segregated , under platform ducting needs inspecting, this was a non-intrusive survey so no cable chambers were inspected, these exist along platform 2.

External ducting clear/roped/accessible

Unknown but all trunking is in reasonable condition, assume rodding and roping will be required for ducts under platform 2.

Power supply suitable

Within the ticket office there is a distribution board which appears to serve existing small SISS equipment racks, there are four spare ways.

ET&I records obtained

Within main power room there is a record folder.

Power supply residual issues from ET&I

Unlikely but subject to ET&I documentation

Vandalism issues

None advised by TOC.

SSSI issues

None advised by TOC.

Other environmental issues e.g. rodents

SUMMARY
For the sole purpose of future proofing the station the recommendation of pulling fibre cable from the up of platform 2 would be recommended, however an off platform survey would have to be performed to confirm its existence.
